Loop Lighting
Loop Lighting is one of the most commonly used patterns. It is named for the loop shadow that it makes under the nose. People use this pattern in portraits because it lights up most of the face while creating a sense of depth in the photo. It is typically done by placing the light source above the eye level at a 25-60 degree angle, and moved to the left or to the right at a 20-50 degree angle. When doing loop lighting, make sure that the shadow from the nose does not touch the shadow on the cheek because then that is rembrandt lighting.
